To help American adults live brain-healthy lifestyles and potentially reduce their risk for Alzheimer’s disease, the Georgia chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is offering a one-hour community workshop called “Maintain Your Brain: How to Live a Brain Healthy Lifestyle” at 11:30 a.m. May 13 at the Effingham YMCA
“Our research-based workshop encourages people to maintain their brain health by staying physically and mentally active, eating a brain-healthy diet and remaining socially involved, which are the key aspects of the Maintain Your Brain campaign,” said Jenny House, programs and services director of the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, Coastal Georgia Regional Office.
The one-hour interactive workshop will feature nutritional and lifestyle advice, strategies to keep your memory sharp, interactive exercises and activities and materials to take home for further reading. The workshop will introduce attendees to scientifically rooted advice on brain health based on strong lifestyle choices, including:
• Staying sharp with challenging mental activities.
• Engaging in social interactions.
• Adopting a brain-healthy diet.
• Remaining physically active.
To register for the free Maintain Your Brain workshop, located at 1224 Patriot Drive in Rincon, call the Effingham YMCA at (912) 826-2199.
