Wound Care Center opens in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Patients in need of outpatient rehabilitation or wound-care services now have a convenient location for treatment without having to travel far from home.
Southeast Georgia Health System hosted a grand opening celebration of the new Outpatient Rehabilitation and Wound Care Center on Sept. 22.
Facility tours were offered along with light refreshments and a special gift for each attendee.
The new center is at 2600 Wildwood Drive, across from the Brunswick Campus.
“The new contemporary facility houses all current outpatient rehabilitation services, which include adult and pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy. It also brings advanced specialty services such as industrial and sports rehabilitation to the Brunswick campus,” says System Vice President DelRia Tate. “Our new facility has enhanced patient evaluation and treatment areas, state-of-the-art equipment and better patient access with dedicated parking. All combined will bring quality care closer to home and expand our capabilities in the future as part of our association with Brooks Rehabilitation.”
The center also houses the new comprehensive wound care program, which includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments are used to treat non-healing wounds, such as lower extremity diabetic wounds, radiation tissue damage, and crush injuries. Patients receiving this treatment breathe 100 percent oxygen inside a pressurized chamber, which assists in the healing process.
“Not only will the Wound Care Center complement the quality care already available at Southeast Georgia Health System, but it also can serve as a key adjunct to the practices of area referring physicians — both of which will positively impact the health of the Southeast Georgia community,” said John Peters, Diversified Clinical Services vice president.
“We are very excited to be working with Diversified to provide comprehensive wound care services to our patients,” Tate said. “Just as with our partner Brooks Rehabilitation, we feel that Diversified’s focus on clinical excellence is consistent with ours.”
The center’s hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Outpatient rehabilitation appointments are available as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 5:30 p.m. four days a week.
