On Feb. 14, Clayton Mobley, 6, son of Beau and Tiffany Smith of Hinesville, was crowned Little Mr. Rattlesnake Roundup 2009 during the Little Miss and Mr. Rattlesnake Roundup Pageant sponsored by the Evans County Wildlife Club in Claxton.
Clayton was reluctant to participate in the pageant at first, but his grandmother convinced him that winning the title would be the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for his mother, who won many pageant titles when she was his age.
Clayton is a first-grader at Waldo Pafford Elementary. His sister, Taylor Smith, 4, who also competed in the pageant, was named second runner-up in the toddler miss division.
They are the grandchildren of Ferrell and Judy Mobley of Hinesville, Sammy and Vickey Woodard of Reidsville, and Jim Smith of Manassas.
Winners of the pageant will ride in the 42nd annual Rattlesnake Roundup Parade, which will be broadcast on WTOC at 10 a.m. March 14.
