Liberty County native and musician Dakota Woods will play at 6 p.m. Sunday at Johnny Harris Restaurant on Victory Drive in Savannah as part of the Savannah Songwriter Series.

The series, created by social-media manager Tami Ross and Southern songwriters Stan Ray and Jefferson Ross, highlights original music and showcases local songwriters. It takes place the first Sunday of each month.

Woods, who grew up in Liberty County and lives in Isle of Wight, is a self-taught guitarist who has been performing for six years. He previously played lead guitar and vocals with two other local bands but has decided to focus more on writing music moving forward after a recent trip to Nashville was successful at proving his songwriting talents. Woods is influenced by music legends such as Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, as well newer musicians such as John Mayer and Eric Church.

The show is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
