The 2010 Long County Relay for Life starts tonight at 5 on Veterans Field near Smiley Elementary School in Ludowici.
This is Long County’s fifth year hosting the relay. In the past four years, the fundraiser netted more than $140,000 to fight cancer.
Last year, the Smiley Elementary School team led all others by raising nearly $4,000. Together, the teams raised nearly $35,000 in 2009.
This year’s relay will have a kid fun zone, a beauty pageant, dancing, hula-hoops, singing, entertainment and more. Organizers also say they’ll have food at every corner of the track.
The opening ceremony is at 6 p.m. Organizers have encouraged community members to take part in the fun and support the battle against cancer.
