Long County to mark MLK birthday

The Long County Martin Luther King Day Planning Committee has announced the third annual Martin Luther King Celebration to be presented Jan. 21.
The day will kick off with a march honoring King. Anyone wishing to participate in the march will meet up at the St. Phillips Baptist Church at 1:15 p.m., and then they will walk to the Long County High School.
At the high school, everyone will meet up in the cafeteria where the official program will begin at 2 p.m.
During the program, the LCHS band will perform along with Praise Dancers from Saint Phillips Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
The keynote speaker will be Long County Juvenile Court Judge Linnie Darden III.
The final meeting to plan any other activities will be Jan. 14 at the Saint Phillips Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to add to the day is welcome to attend the meeting, and all local churches are urged to attend.
