Santa will make an appearance at the Ludowici/Long Country Christmas tree and well pavilion lighting ceremony at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Local businessman Tim Works, who is helping organize the event, said he has been in contact with the North Pole and expects Santa and Mrs. Claus to drop by for a visit. Other guests include Donna Jackson and Leah Simpson. Jackson, a Southern gospel/country christian singer and songwriter, will perform songs from her new album “Rescue Me.”
Simpson, accompanied by her mother, musician Fred Kopp and Brandon Williams on guitar, will also treat the audience to a few tunes. Simpson has a bachelor’s in musical theater and has been performing most of her life. She has sung in choirs, church groups and even a rock band.
In addition to the entertainment and lighting ceremony, the event will include Christmas cookies, candy, warm beverages and other treats.
The public is invited and any refreshment donations will be accepted. For more information, e-mail Works at upscalecountry2008@yahoo.com.
