Long Senior Center Crowns King and Queen Sweetheart

The Long County Senior Citizens Center had a 2008 Valentine Banquet on Feb. 14.
Marvin "Tinker" Gordon and Patsy Gordon were unanimously voted the king and queen/Mr. and Mrs. Sweetheart and each received gift baskets and candy.
The Gordons joined about 40 other senior citizens from the area to get together for food and fellowship. The group met up at the center on Thornton Drive at 11 a.m. and enjoyed a home cooked meal, includin a salad, spaghetti, early peas, rolls, and a cake provided from Debbie Cakes.
The banquet had the theme of love, and the center was decked out with balloons and flowers. All the gentlemen received candy, while all the ladies got candy and a carnations.
LCSCC Director Tina McFann, along with Karen Crews set up the activity, said she and enjoyed the day with everyone present.
"Everyone had a blast. They were so excited and just had a great time," McFann said.
"We have activities every month and everyone has a good time and wants to do more," she added.
The center is opened Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and it serves and delivers hot meals to 500 seniors in Long County every week.
