A former Ukrainian resident, who now lives in Ludowici, will hold her first book signing Wednesday at the Long County Library.

Iryna Combs moved into this area six years ago. Since her transplant to the Southeast, she has become a jewelry maker and a now an author. Her first novel, “Black Wings,” was published and released in July as an e-book. Two weeks later, it came out in paperback.

Combs’ book is a science-fiction story about two humanoid species who are captured and held as slaves. They are treated cruelly and tortured as entertainment for their captors. One of the humanoids, Annabel, is barely kept alive in her torment and endures years of agony. During her difficulty, she discovers a secret that could be the catalyst for her escape and also redemption for those held in captivity with her.

Combs’ book signing will be from 6-8 p.m., with refreshments provided. All are welcome to attend the event.

The library is at 270 S. Main St. For more information, call 545-2521.
