Ludowici man wins sale's door prize

HAZLEHURST — Don Dasher of Ludowici is the grand prize winner of the 2009 Peaches to the Beaches “Shop Til’ You Drop” contest.
Dasher won a two-night stay at Oceanside Inn and Suites on Jekyll Island. The prize also includes a VIP pass that gives Dasher access to such Jekyll Island amenities as golf, miniature golf, bicycle rentals, historic tours, tennis courts and the nature interpretive  center.
Located on Jekyll Island’s oceanfront, the Oceanside Inn and Suites is home to the new SandBar and Grill sports bar. Oceanside Inn and Suites donated the two-night prize to encourage consumer participation in the Peaches to the Beaches event.
The “Shop Til’ You Drop” contest invited participants to shop the Peaches to the Beaches yard sales along U.S. 341 on March 13-14. Vendors offered an assortment of merchandise, from antiques to farm equipment. To qualify, Dasher had his shopping passport stamped at 8 of the 10 official locations.
Second and third prizes were awarded to Marsha Corman of Williamson and Dolores Clements of Eastman. To qualify for the second-place drawing, Corman had five shopping passports stamped at seven possible locations. To qualify for the third-prize drawing, Clements had two passports stamped at four possible locations. Corman won a $100 gas card and Clements won a gift bag.
Official sites along the 212-mile Peaches to the Beaches trail, also known as the Golden Isle Parkway, were in Culloden, Roberta, Perry, Hawkinsville, Eastman, McRae, Hazlehurst, Baxley, Jesup and Brunswick.
