You have no idea how excited I am about not having to drive all the way to Pooler or Savannah for a thick, juicy, succulent cut of beef.

OK, to be more specific, an 8 ounce — fine make that a 12 ounce — cut of LongHorn prime rib.

Finally!

I can finally indulge in my carnivorous cravings right here in town. And do you know what’s even better than anticipating the grand opening set for Monday?

Free freaking food, that’s what!

Leave it to Liberty Foodie to get an inside scoop and be a part of their service test day Saturday.

Oh yeah, bring on the complimentary New York strip, prime rib or ribeye cut, please. Loaded baked potato? Sure why not, in fact add extra bacon.

Salad?

No hold the dang salad. Ain’t nobody got time for a healthy salad during a complimentary meal. Give me some of that steakhouse mac-n-cheese instead.

And please don’t waste my time with a boring soda, bring me that delicious raspberry ice tea and keep the glass full.

Seriously, you have no idea just how big this is in terms keeping my food cravings satisfied. In my personal opinion LongHorn Steakhouse is one of the few places that serves great steaks at reasonable prices. And now I don’t have to waste a half tank of gas getting there. Better yet, I can now add this as part of a new fitness routine.

I get all the steak I want if I ride my bike there and back.

Challenge accepted. Bring it!

I am grateful to be among those who will give the kitchen a test-run on Saturday. I am pretty sure that come Monday the lines to be served will rival those found at the best rides at Disney World.

For those looking to be a part of the festivities, the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the grand opening ribbon cutting Monday at 3 p.m. All surplus food is being donated to Manna House.

The new LongHorn Steakhouse is in the new Oglethorpe Square on Highway 84 adjacent to the Walmart Super Center.
