Many holiday activities set in Long Co.

The month of December will be a busy one for many in Long County with activities for everyone.

Here are some of the events that are scheduled:

Miss Christmas Holiday pageant

Residents can come out Saturday to see who wins the title of Miss Christmas Holiday at 6 p.m. in Long County High School. The pageant is open to ladies of all ages, with eight different divisions. In addition to the beauty queens being crowned, there also will be special prizes for prettiest smile, best dress and most sponsors. An overall queen will be selected for the younger and older divisions. Entry forms can be picked up and turned in at Town and Country Beauty, Floral, and Tanning or at LudaGraphiz in Ludowici. Admission is $5 or a toy for the Long/Liberty County Toys For Tots campaign. For more information, call 294-0145 or 332-2492.

Parade and Santa Claus

On Dec. 8, people can come out and watch the Ludowici/Long County Christmas Parade, hosted by the Long County Chamber of Commerce. The lineup starts at 1 p.m. at LCHS, judging is at 1:15, and the parade begins at 2. Bleachers will be on McQueen Street. Last year, there were 40 entries and 13 floats in the annual event. There will be a contest to determine the top floats, with cash prizes being awarded for the top three entries.

Immediately after the parade, parents can take pictures of their children with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Ludowici Old Well Pavilion. For more information, call 545-0015 or 545-9111.

Christmas concert

A free Christmas concert will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Long County High School. The LCHS band and chorus will perform in the cafeteria. Director Terry Kenny will lead the band. For more information, call 545-2135.

Live Christmas Story

On Dec. 21-22, the story of Christmas will be told during a live show from 6-10 p.m. at The New Beginning Church. Audience members will be able to witness the spectacle by either driving through a set-up course or by walking through. Free refreshments will be provided for walkers. Admission is free.
