Museum's Christmas Tea is Saturday

Midway Museum Executive Director Diane Kroell will serve as hostess Saturday.

Get in the Christmas mood at the Midway Museum, 550 N. Coastal Highway, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday for the 56th “English Style Tea Party.”

The teas are the museum’s pre-Christmas tradition and are reminiscent of the Colonial period, when English customs were still prevalent in Coastal Georgia.

The museum recreates life as it would have been lived in a typical planter’s cottage between the 1750s and 1870s. During the holidays, the museum is decorated with Colonial-style Christmas decorations, and many staff members wear period costumes.

“We are very grateful to be serving four flavors of fresh-brewed leaf tea from our local Hale’s Tea Company delicious teas,” said Diane Kroell, the museum’s executive director. “Our Christmas teas are a fun way to experience the living history of our coastal region. We would love to see you.”

A limited number of tickets are available for $15 for adults and $5 for children. This includes hot tea, tea sandwiches and other tea time treats, along with a tour of the house decorated for a Williamsburg-style Christmas.

Reservations are required. Call 912-884-5837 or email rsvpmidwaymuseum@gmail.com.
