Nine films up for best picture at 2013 Oscars

Nine films received nods for best picture during Thursday’s announcement of the Academy Award nominations.

According to a list from the Associated Press, the best-picture nominees are “Amour,” ‘’Argo,” ‘’Beasts of the Southern Wild,” ‘’Django Unchained,” ‘’Les Miserables,” “Life of Pi,” Lincoln,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and ‘’Zero Dark Thirty.”

The winners will be announced starting at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 on ABC, according to oscars.go.com.

Other major-category nominees were:

Actor — Bradley Cooper, “Silver Linings Playbook”; Daniel Day-Lewis, “Lincoln”; Hugh Jackman, “Les Miserables”; Joaquin Phoenix, “The Master”; Denzel Washington, “Flight.”

Actress — Jessica Chastain, “Zero Dark Thirty”; Jennifer Lawrence, “Silver Linings Playbook”; Emmanuelle Riva, “Amour”; Quvenzhane Wallis, “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; Naomi Watts, “The Impossible.”

Director — Michael Haneke, “Amour”; Benh Zeitlin, “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; Ang Lee, “Life of Pi”; Steven Spielberg, “Lincoln”; David O. Russell, “Silver Linings Playbook.”
