At the Nov. 13 weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill, Bill Cathcart gave members a glimpse into the history of the life of pilot Frank “Monk” O’Driscoll Hunter and Hunter Army Airfield.  
A native of Rochester, New York, Cathcart recently retired from WTOC-TV after 29 years of service; the last 24 were spent as the station’s vice president and general manager. Cathcart’s Savannah-area community involvement includes longtime, continuing board service with the Savannah-Area Chamber of Commerce, where he’s a past chairman, and multiple-year Military Affairs Council chair.  
He also serves on boards for the Coastal Empire Boy Scout Council, USO/Savannah  Savannah’s Union Mission and Operation Hero House. He’s a member of STARBASE Savannah and is a recent past board member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, where he was inducted into the GAB’s Broadcast Hall of Fame earlier this year.  
Cathcart is a member and past secretary of the Rotary Club of Savannah and the immediate past chair and continuing board member of the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Savannah.
He serves as Honorary Wing Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard’s 165th Airlift Wing and has been named an honorary member of Hunter’s Rangers, Night Stalkers and the 3rd ID’s Combat Aviation Brigade.
Last year, Cathcart was selected by the Department of the Army to become the first civilian aide to the secretary of the Army for the Coastal Georgia region.
