Riceboro residents gathered last weekend at Briar Bay Park for the city’s first annual Thanksgiving feast. The event committee, which included Riceboro City Councilman Chris Stacey, David Miller, John Young, the Rev. Darlene Jackson, Linda Fagan and others from various churches, partnered with organizations to distribute turkeys, gift baskets and meals to Riceboro residents. Liberty Spice also donated gift baskets to DFACS clients. Organizers said the event was a success and they plan to make it a yearly event. Mt. Carmel’s Praise Team sang songs of Thanksgiving, and Bishop Julian Jones presenting a gift basket to an attendee, was the guest speaker. Mayor Bill Austin and Riceboro’s oldest resident, Dorothy Brunson, also attended.
