Rotary International VIP visits Fort Stewart
Rotary International

Rotarty District Gov. Dr. Hamsa Thota spent time visiting Fort Stewart with Rotary Club of Hinesville President Carla Schreihofer and club members on Monday.

During his first visit to the installation, he enjoyed an interactive hands-on tour where he met soldiers and civilians.  He observed training, thanked soldiers and heard about the history of the 3rd Infantry Division.

The visit included a visit to the Army museum, which is expected to reopen mid-November. Thota and 3ID installation guests saw tank and weapon simulators and rollover vehicles, and visited a China room, full of treasures. The afternoon tour concluded with dinner that evening.

Club members spent Tuesday’s lunch meeting hearing more about Thota’s partnership with MAP International, a Brunswick-based business that Hinesville Rotarians will support through volunteer work. They also learned about his entrepreneurship initiative – a program that will result in the Hinesville Club hosting its first-ever STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture, math) Celebration on Feb. 10 at Armstrong States Liberty Center Campus. The STEAM Celebration will be a free event geared toward elementary and middle school youth in the community.
