Boy Scout Troop 500 will hold its 54th-anniversary reunion Oct. 24 at the Boy Scout Hut, 605 E. Oglethorpe Highway behind the National Guard armory in Hinesville. The troop was founded in 1961, with the late Homer Smith as its first scoutmaster.

Current Scoutmaster Danny Peller said all former Troop 500 Scouts and their family members are invited to attend.

“We are asking everyone to bring pictures, stories and memories to share with current and past members,” Peller said. “If someone isn’t able to attend, if they can, we would like them to send us some of their pictures or a story from when they were in the troop,” Peller said.

The reunion will run from noon to 6 p.m. He said all the guests will eat at 2:30 p.m. and that all who plan to attending need to RSVP by Saturday.
