Dr. Glenn and Becky Carter took the Goldenheirs along on their 2006 trip to China during the club’s March meeting.
Their daughter, Rebecca, is a member of the University of Georgia’s Redcoats Marching Band, which was invited to tour the Asian nation last summer. The band invited Glenn Carter as the physician for band members and chaperons.
There are 315 members of the Redcoats and they were accompanied by 10 adults on the trip. The band performed in five different cities and were well received in each.
They were accompanied everywhere they went by a group of Chinese high school and college students who acted as interpreters.
During their presentation to the club, the Carters showed a video. Becky Carter also wore a native dress for the occasion.
The Goldenheirs is a senior group that meets at First Baptist Church in Hinesville, but that is not restricted to members of the church. It meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month for a program and covered dish lunch. Tuesday’s program will feature representatives from Georgia Legal Services. All senior citizens are invited.
