Soldier returns from Afghanistan

Spc. Cedric Lasean Green recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. To welcome their son, grandson and great-grandson, the Pridgen, Wallace and Cooper families traveled to Fort Lee, Va.
Cedric served with the 109th Quartermaster Company out of Fort Lee. During his tour, he received the Army Commendation Medal and several certificates of achievement, including one for wartime service. 
Green is a member of Bethel AME church in Hinesville, where the Rev. Richie Williams serves as pastor. He is the son of retired Sgt. 1st Class Ricky and Mrs. Tanya Pridgen of Hinesville, the grandson of Eugene Simmons Sr. and Ron and Beverly Wallace of Savannah and the great-grandson of Mrs. Arna T. Cooper of Savannah.
Green’s family said they are thankful for his safe return and the return of his entire unit, which completed the tour with no casualties.

Reid graduates from basic training
Air Force Airman Deandre Reid graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
He is the son of Jimilla Reid of Hinesville and the grandson of Gladys Johnson of Moncks Corner, S.C.
Reid graduated in 2010 from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner.
