The sisters of the Hinesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. are gearing up for a big celebration.
Chapter members will celebrate May Week 2015, from Friday through May 8, with activities dedicated to educating and improving the community within the chapter’s service area.
May Week, which began in 1920, is the sorority’s national tradition used to highlight academic and professional achievements through events that emphasize the importance of education in the community.
“In one week in May, Hinesville Alumnae Chapter members take this opportunity to take a look within our community and bring programs or events highlighting our strengths,” chapter President Petula Gomillion said.
“We are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ to do great work within the community, and it is our job within the Hinesville Alumnae Chapter to identify that work and needs within our service areas and take action,” she said. “This year’s May Week theme, ‘Fearfully and Wonderfully Made,’ is a notice to everyone within the community that they are destined for greatness no matter what their current situation looks like. We were all designed for a specific purpose, and just because things aren’t perfect (doesn’t) mean that you don’t have purpose.”
To foster the tradition of May Week, the Hinesville Alumnae Chapter will present the following May Week programs, which are open to the general public:
• Saturday — Community Impact Day. Mother’s Love Event, City of Hinesville Building, 115 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, 12:30-
1:30 pm.

dry Street, Hinesville, 5-

Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville. You can support Team Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Hinesville Alumnae Chapter, by logging on to the chapter’s team page at http://bit.ly/1OyVjca.
