Sound of for Oct. 21

Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not know if they are true, nor what motivated the callers:

I concur with the caller that talked about the woman at Wal-Mart with her gold jewelry, cell phone, Gucci purse and welfare card to pay for her groceries. If you’re crooked you can get all the food stamp help you need. But if you’re honest and hard working and need the assistance you can’t get it.

Thanks for your letter to the editor, Bucky Keel, but now what are you going to do about it. I can’t believe I lost three days of pay while they are out on vacation.

I heard about the good old boys in Ludowici. I read about it in Sound off. We’re having too many wrecks on Rye Patch. They are fixing tickets, allowing under-age drivers to call their parents to come get them and not doing anything about DUIs.

Realtors, please know that being rude and unkept lawns do not sell houses.

Hats off to the caller. The only ones qualifying for food stamps are the well-to-do and friends of the employees.

Hey, Midway, it’s election time. If you want something bigger and better in Midway get out and vote.

It just bothers me. Did we not learn from Gen. Sherman’s 50-mile march? I think Obama needs to learn war is war. Sherman’s march ended the war, amen.

Well, you know, we know we’re going to spend more money in this type of financial situation in our country. But our city really needs to practice, and so should the commissioners and school board, sound economic processes.

Why is it whenever a silly holiday like Columbus Day comes up the gas stations can’t wait to go outside and jack up the prices. I just watched them do it in Hinesville alone.
