Yesterday I received a flyer in my mail box from Bobby Smith who is running for Long County Probate Judge. It was not addressed or stamped. Isn’t that a violation of federal law?

For all the people who are voting for Trump to change Washington. The only way to change Washington is to change Congress. Since 88 percent of the seats in Congress are up for re-election in November, maybe this is the time to vote Johnny and Buddy out of office. Start the change!

Why does everyone keep blaming the city for businesses not coming here, or the same businesses having multiple sites (Wal-Mart)? The city doesn’t solicit businesses to open up. If a store never comes here, it’s because no one wants to open that shop here, not that the city won’t let them. For shops that closed down, it’s because they couldn’t survive our community.

I see where the Liberty County School System got only 2 and 1/2 stars for their fiscal responsibility rating. Bryan County got 4 stars. Courier, please investigate and write a story about this so the public will understand that the superintendent and BOE are not being good stewards of the taxpayer’s money.

This is in reference to Wednesday’s caller who said all Liberty County Superintendents were bullies. I worked under every superintendent from Ed Edwards to Dr. Lee, as well as a multitude of assistant superintendents, and I promise you I was always treated in a professional and respectful manner until Dr. Lee came to town. She is the first Liberty County superintendent to behave in a demanding and rude manner. Maybe that’s the way employees are treated in Atlanta, but we don’t like it here.

Donald Trump says he will be pulling out of NATO and Japan and that would result in a 25 percent cut in personnel both in military and civilian.  With that large of a cut it could mean Fort Stewart could be closed and Hinesville could find itself in a very bad economic state.

I’m really tired of the GOP calling themselves the party of change: The GOP currently holds 248 out of 440 seats in the House, 54 out of 100 seats in the Senate, 31 out of 50 governorships, 70 out of 99 state legislative chambers, and four out of eight justice appointments to the Supreme Court. They keep saying that the country is on the wrong track, but they are driving the train. We need change in the House and the Senate this election year — vote Democratic.

I was disappointed in the article about Elaine Boggs. It made her out to be a victim when she is clearly being blacklisted for a reason. I don’t understand why her wedding anniversary at the end of the article was important. Weird.
