Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Shame, shame. Our elected congressional representative promises constituents and then never follows through. Shame, shame, congressman.

I’m calling about the person who made a comment about the NIV Bible versus the King James Bible. I think they should read up on who King James was. He lived from 1566 to 1625. He was the king of England. There were Bibles long before King James’ Bible.

I came there for service yesterday, and I was at window No. 5 and this lady here, she was eating popcorn. She was so busy eating popcorn that she couldn’t service me. Customers do come first, instead of the popcorn.

This is to the blue civil construction truck that’s riding my bumper, trying to push me when I’m already going over the speed limit: I sure do need a new car. It’d be mighty nice for Christmas.

Eleven Sound offs in Wednesday’s newspaper, and half of them dealt with God or religion. Isn’t there a section in Sunday’s paper for this kind of stuff? Personally, I hate for religion or politics to be pushed in my face.
