Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not know is they are true, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Yes, the city of Walthourville is having bingo night and many other things. The money is being donated, not coming from city funds. If you come to the old train station and get on board you’ll find what a wonderful job your mayor, police chief and fire chief are doing.

To the city of Riceboro, I understand the city council members are getting cell phones, Blackberrys and such. However, how about the rest of the Christmas decorations for the south side of 17 as was promised?

If people are concerned about why John Bradley is not working in Long County, maybe they should ask him why he quit.

I really hope Sheriff Don Martin is OK and recovers. But if that was anyone else, wouldn’t he get a citation?

If good Catholics, old Catholics don’t eat meat on Fridays and Christmas falls on Friday, what are we going to eat for Christmas meal?

I almost hit a crossing guard today because they are wearing a raincoat over their reflective clothing. And it’s gray and dark and the street lights are on.

Liberty County Board of Education has $2 million to buy a college, but I have to take days off so we can all can keep our jobs. What kind of sense does that make?

I’m so tired of every issue that involves blacks and whites being about racism. Not everything is about racism.

If someone talks about something in their life from five or 10 years ago, they need to get a job or get a life because evidently they don’t have a life.

These parents who encourage their unwed daughters to have babies are doing the wrong thing. All you’re going to do is have a welfare statistic. If you want a baby, get married, do it the right way.
