Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

I read about the raises. Mayor Thomas said the amount of money is immaterial. Then why isn’t he satisfied with a 5 percent raise? And the rest of the article just sounds like baloney.

The price of gas on Fort Stewart is the same as the price outside the gate. So let’s start on Fort Stewart.  They don’t pay taxes. Their gas should be cheaper and that will cause the stations in Hinesville to be cheaper. Come on, Fort Stewart, help us out.

City council members, don’t let the mayor or city manager bulldoze you into decisions you make or to change your mind. Why elect council members if they’re just pawns of the mayor and manager?

Chief Moran has a choice just like anyone else has to run for sheriff. If he wants to settle for the thing, that’s his business.

All these letters about the racial profile in Hinesville. What percentage of crime is done by black males between 15 and 30? Look at the numbers. They tell the truth.

Whatever happened to pride in living on the Isle of Wight? Front yards, back yards and side yards become junk yards. One place even has garbage on top of the house.
