Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for the veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:
Yesterday, my neighbor in Midway was pulled over by the police near her residence. She pulled into her driveway. The police officer pulled in right behind her and blocked her in and gave her a ticket. I was just wondering whether police can go onto private property without a warrant.
To the Midway residents: Don’t vote to re-elect anyone in office today. If the law people don’t have any regard for young children trying to make honest money for a trip, they don’t need to be in office. How ridiculous can you get?
This is way too much, Midway. This is enough. The lemonade stand everyone’s talking about, this is ridiculous. These are city ordinances. If people would read them, they’d see the police are only doing their job.
I’d like to give cheers to the Midway Police Department for doing their job. The people who are opposing them do not know the circumstances and apparently have not investigated the city ordinances. Cheers to Chief Morningstar. She’s doing a great job. Midway is a safer place.
Sound off for July 22
