Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Regarding the free alcohol on post: Is this alcohol company paying AAFES to give out free samples in the shopette? This is really weird.

Hinesville is a small military town. Ludowici is a small farming town. Some where along the line our fearless leaders decided both towns would become billionaires’ bedroom community like Richmond Hill. But guess what, we’re the same old place, but a lot poorer now.

Why does the Long County Sheriff’s Department not prosecute for breaking into people’s houses? I know of several cases where they caught them in the houses, but just let them go.

How can the city council and mayor and them afford to go to a workshop meeting to discuss the thing of Hinesville on Jekyll Island? That is a waste of taxpayer money.

To the caller about the civilians and military: We do appreciate what you do, but we have a say too. We pay for it.

Yes, the wages of sin is death. That’s why we’re all going to die some day.
