Here  are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

It’s a shame Midway police would bust little girls who are just trying to go to Splash in the Boro. I think Midway should be in charge of buying those girls tickets and sending them to Splash in the Boro. I don’t feel like my house is being protected when they’re out busting little kids for lemonade.

Is the city of Midway and Chief Morningstar going to pick up the tab for those lemonade girls to go to Splash in the Boro? I think they should pay the bill.

To the young ladies in the silver SUV who hit my red Mustang in front of South Georgia Bank, I hope you do the honorable thing and come forward. You committed a hit-and-run. If there were any witnesses to this accident, please call the police and help me identify this woman.

If they do not pay us our Social Security in August, they need to have an impeachment party starting at the top of Washington and going all the way down.

Regarding that lemonade stand in Midway, it just goes to show you that Midway is anti-business. That’s why we can’t get a decent grocery store or any fast food. Bless those little girls.

Midway Police Department, thank you for putting our little city on Fox News.

Regarding the shutting down of the lemonade stand in Midway, as a retired law-enforcement officer, I can tell you the Midway Police Department needs a class in common sense 101.

When election time comes, Midway residents should vote against those who hired the police. We can shut them down like they did the lemonade stand. This is ridiculous.

Way to go, chief. The AP headline reads “Police in Georgia shut down girls’ lemonade stand,” and the story identifies Midway, Ga. Well, Midway has made the big time with the Associated Press.

Oh my goodness. My niece in Oklahoma told me she was watching channel nine news in Oklahoma and it was about the lemonade stand in Midway, Ga. We have become the laughing stock of the nation.
