Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I see you people out there by the railroad tracks on Eunice throwing eggs at people’s cars again. If someone caught you and beat you then they’d be in a world of trouble. You parents need to keep your children home at night because they are going to get hurt messing up people’s cars.

In response to the caller who said Obama voters need to wake up: Yes, I voted for him. Stop your madness. What did Bush do for the country? Ignorance and intolerance will never succeed.

My doctor wrote me a prescription and Winn pharmacy filled it for all my diabetic supplies, to include the meter.

Hinesville, Liberty County can’t support the four brigades and any visiting units on Fort Stewart as it is. How could they support a fifth brigade? Let’s move on.

I think it is a great job that the First Calvary Church and that young commissioner are doing to help the people in their neighborhood. If everyone gave hope we’d be a much better place.

To the person calling about the fire truck that Long County got, that was through a federal grant. It had nothing to do with the area. Gum Branch has also gotten a federal grant in the past.

To the person calling about all the money Long County fire department, Gum Branch is in Liberty County whereas Long County doesn’t cover that, so get over it.

I read Rich Lowry’s columns and he’s always complaining about what the president is not doing. Why didn’t he run for president? He seems to have all the solutions. I think it’s a little jealousy going on.
