Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Long County would like to know the result of the investigation of the fatal accident on May 30, 2009, on Highway 301 South that killed a Wayne County teenager.

Hey folks, did you know Sapelo Island is open to
the public? For only $10 you get a ferry ride out and back and you get the bus tour of the Island. What
a jewel in the South. Did you know it was home to R.J. Reynolds, the tobacco millionaire?

How can elected officials and county workers in Long County get away without paying taxes? They need to resign and seek financial advice. Check it out yourself at the tax collector’s office. It’s public record.

That article in the paper about Church’s Chicken, about them wanting people to come help them repair their air conditioning is a bunch of bull. My air conditioning went out last week and I had to go buy window units. Let them go buy window units, they’re no better than anyone else.

I worked at a laundromat for three years and they had no air conditioning. Do you know how hot it gets in a laundromat with dryers going? And now you think those people at Church’s Chicken can’t work in the heat for just a short time.

I’m not a vengeful person, I’m really not, but I hope those people at Church’s Chicken burn their butts.

Last week’s caller also gave credit to the church, as well as the commissioner. If people did more than worry about the frivolous things, the world would be a better place.

Friday caller, other than running your mouth, what are you doing to improve your neighborhood?
