Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I’d like to thank Liberty County for sending Lamar Cook to the Long County brush fire because without him, they’d have never got it put out.

Thank God for all the firefighters who helped with the Long County fire, and especially Darrell Ballance, the fire chief. We couldn’t have done it without him.

On handicapped spaces, most of the time there’s a ramp that gives access, but in one shopping center here in Hinesville, there is someone that parks over the ramp and it’s killing everybody’s business there because the handicapped cannot use the ramp to go up into the stores. If they would kindly move their vehicle, it would be nice.

This is in reference to the Isle of Wight country club article that you had. It was as if you were glamorizing drinking and gambling, and in the same edition was the article about not drinking on prom night. I think adults need to grow up and be responsible adults, and they do need to remember that buzzed driving is drunk driving.

Thanks for the good news about the chaplains and the hope article that’s on the front page of last Wednesday’s paper. I enjoyed this about our chaplains and what they’re doing.
