Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

To all the residents of Crystal Lake: You have driveways. Why do you insist on making it a one-way road?

I just drove by the fire station in Riceboro and they’ve got a great big, blue porta-potty sitting out front. I thought that new station had bathrooms.

I enjoyed reading all about our city council’s achievements in the Sunday Coastal Courier. I do not enjoy my tax bill of $206.90 for my house trailer that has an assessed value of $1,279. A St. Simons getaway must be nice.

How dare people judge people who are on welfare? Some of us need those funds to pay for groceries and other expenses. I’ve been actively looking for a job for several months, so don’t pass judgment on us.

I read in the Courier that the mayor and the city council members gave themselves a passing grade. Well, I personally think that grade was too generous. The taxes in this county have continuously risen every year.

I live off of Frank Cochran and with the roads being locked down with military traffic, I think it’s a waste of over-inflated gas prices. It’s a joke.

I think gas prices would be quite a bit lower if the president didn’t have stock in three major oil companies. He seems to be the one who is mainly profiting from all this.
