Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

In reference to the Amelia Earhart comment: The only thing that might overshadow the minor abilities of the feminist movement heroes is a man’s big ego.

 On May 27, 1919, the first transit Atlantic flight was completed by Lt. Cmdr. Albert C. Read of the U.S. Navy. Earhart was much much later, with much better equipment.

This is to the chauvinistic man. Yes, Amelia got lost. But it is a proven fact that when a man gets lost, he’ll go in circle, after circle, after circle, while a woman will stop and ask for directions. So which is smarter?

 I can spot a cubic zirconia, you know those fake diamonds, a mile away. So quit wearing those fake rings. They look so cheap.

What is going on with this new country music? It sounds more like hard rock than country.
