Sound off for Nov. 14

Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the COurier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do with know what motivated the callers:

Congratulations and hats off to the downtown merchants of Hinesville and First Baptist Church for all the Halloween activities and fall festival. There was so much. Everybody had a good time.

The Sound off caller who was upset with the nurse in Muslim garb must be really bigoted. Not all of “them” attacked us on Sept. 11. America has freedom of religion.

Our car tag is $20. My taxes are over $200. Why don’t they take some of that $180 or so and pay for a trauma system? Why don’t they go with a flat tax? Then I wouldn’t mind $10 or so if my tax was $30 or so each month.

I never thought I’d like commercials, but after all those political ads, I never knew advertising could be so wonderful.

Liberty County only had 10,299 voters. The rest of the county of 50,000 have no reason to complain about political offices now.

Walthourville Mayor Daisy Pray, I’ve been reading what people say about you. I am in Walthourville and you’re doing a good job. Don’t worry about what people say about you. People can’t control you.

Gas prices are awful high here. I just came from Augusta and it’s $2.53 and $2.54 up there. And city hall is proposing increasing property taxes. That’s because of that new building that they don’t even need.

I’m a resident of Walthourville. Mayor Pray is doing a good job.
