Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

We’re not allowed to flush old prescription drugs down the toilet because it contaminates the area. So I dissolve my prescription drugs and feed them to my flowers. That’s why my flowers are so healthy.

Idea for empty buses: Park them all in city hall’s parking lot as a reminder of a bad idea and the waste of other people’s money.

I would be ashamed if I were you gossipers and liars who lie on people just so you have something to talk about and have drama going on, especially out in Gum Branch. It’s pathetic. Look in the mirror, people. Judge yourself before you judge somebody else.

I do most of my Christmas shopping at Kmart because they have a layaway program. Fred’s also does layaway. Who else wants my business this year? It won’t be Walmart.

To the caller complaining about Gum Branch getting a new fire station, you need to understand that’s a growing community out there and what they have is inadequate. It’s not like they pulled the location out of a hat.

To the callers who are judging other people because they purchased expensive cars or homes: You need to mind your own business. Owning an expensive car doesn’t mean you’re shallow. Owning a big home doesn’t mean you’re trying to impress others. All it means is they made choices different from you. We’re all individuals and we have different lifestyles.

The bus driver never would have had to pull over if your children would obey and respect adults. You, as a parent, are showing your children it’s OK for them to act the way they were when you use the race card. Come on, parents, wake up. They children did wrong. They need to be punished for their actions.

Concerning the pizza fellow who was killed on 95, this man lost his life due to the fact that he was trying to saves lives by removing a bumper from an interstate that was under construction. The county and state ought to step up and offer help to the family. That’s just my opinion.

I think the announcer for the Liberty/Bradwell scrimmage game was totally biased. He was very unfair to Bradwell. Bradwell played good, too. They work hard. An announcer for a game should be totally unbiased.
