Sound off for Sept. 16

Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

What’s with Long County and the bus stops? There’s one every half a foot. I think kids can walk a little ways. I did when I was growing up.

I was listening to the police scanner and I heard some cuss words and some very unprofessional words over the scanner on the third of September around 16:40 hours. This is not very nice.

To the Sound off caller talking about what you need in Hinesville for the kids — a big water park. Why don’t you start the water park since it’s your idea?

I would like to thank the USDA food commodities for coming to Midway, but they ran out the first or second day and we need more supplies in here.

I believe that children shouldn’t be suspended from school because that gives them what they want. I think they should have more school on the weekends or after school. This way, they’ll learn their lessons. Sending kids home isn’t punishment. Have more school, not less.

I was very upset when I read that the Susan G. Komen people have given $600,000 to Planned Parenthood instead of giving it to research to find a cure for cancer. Why are they donating to Planned Parenthood?

Why doesn’t Button Gwinnett send home heads up sheets anymore on Fridays like they used to? That way, parents can help their kids at home.
