Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not know if they are true, nor what motivated the callers:

 

I believe the health care forums should be on the Jerry Springer Show. They have the same characterizations. They are supposed to be well educated people, but they don’t act like it.

Let’s see, our president just got back from vacation, he’s going back on vacation, now he’s going to take time to talk to kids to tell them what they can do to help him. What does our president do? We have so many problems and he’s doing all this.

The Department of Education has cut the funds to schools a lot, yet the department in Washington can waste money sending packages to each student regarding the president’s speech. That’s wrong.

I want to give kudos to the VFW. They truly care about the veterans of this town.

How can an assistant principal spend the entire 2008-09 school year finding out information about the board office and not even worry about the education of the children?
