Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Amen!

Does Midway need four policemen? I don’t think so. Every time I pass the police station, there are three or four police cars there. Why not get out and go to the parks and keep peace and look after businesses? We don’t need four cars sitting at the police station.

Citizens of Walthourville, now is the time to give Mayor Pray and Councilwoman Green some help. Present council members have been useless, inattentive and unresponsive. Please give the mayor and Councilwoman Green the help they need.

I would like to say thank you to the Coastal Courier — the religious freaks that they might be — because we have freedom of speech and I’m thankful that they can mention God in the paper. To the person who doesn’t want to hear it, be careful that you aren’t left behind when all of us Christians are gone from this earth.

Can we, the citizens of Midway, get an updated grocery store and pharmacy? Please?

To the person who said the editor of the Coastal Courier must be a religious freak, if you would get your heart right with God, you might become a preacher and be a blessing to someone.

Pleasant Grove AME Church ushers, let’s get it together. Ushers do an ushers march like soldiers in an army for Christ. You looked ridiculous Sunday at your ushers’ anniversary, doing club
dancing.
The city of Ludowici’s leader has died and now the politicians are fighting among themselves.

This is for the caller who asked why only one African American was working at the clinic. You should be ashamed of yourself. It sounds like you just walk into businesses and count how many African-American workers are there. Sounds like you’re the one who is prejudiced. You need to wake up. Maybe you just weren’t qualified.

My husband thinks he’s got the answer for all these riots and people in the streets, taking stuff and messing up the businesses. Just get some hornets’ nests and throw them on them and see if that takes care of the problem. I don’t think they’ll keep on rioting with the hornets’ nests on them.
