Sept. 2 Book Club Meeting - One of Richmond Hill Public Library’s new book clubs for adults will meet at 11 a.m., and anyone with a desire to join is welcome to attend. Meet new people, experience interesting books, and share ideas and thoughts on the reading materials. Contact Maike George at 756-3580 to learn more.

McTeacher’s Night - The McDonald’s restaurant on Hwy. 144 in the Publix plaza hosts another one of their school fundraiser nights, this time benefiting Richmond Hill High School football. From 5-8 p.m., stop by to see players and coaches “work” at the restaurant and drive-through window, and enjoy some food for a good cause. Art Show Reception - The Richmond Hill Historical Society will host this event at the museum at 7 p.m. Examine and enjoy works by a group of local artists, whose special focus for this show is the scenery and people of Bryan County, past and present. Artists chose images from the museum’s archives to recreate on canvas. They will be on hand to speak about their work and answer questions. All are welcome to attend. Sept. 4

Labor Day Festival - Head out to Fort McAllister State Historic Park for a Saturday filled with fun. Starting at 10 a.m., re-enactors will be on hand to demonstrate facets of Civil War-era life. Johnny Banks and the Fundamentals will entertain with live music as the blues and barbecue portion of the festival begins at 4 p.m. Visitors can enjoy heaping plates of food for $10 each, and there will be fireworks at dark. Parking fee of $5 will apply to each car.

Sept. 5

Labor Day Family Picnic - Hosted by Savannah Regional Central Labor Council, this free event will take place in J.F. Gregory Park from 12-4 p.m. There will be kids’ activities, a dessert bakeoff for cash prizes, appearances by retired NFL players, and presentations on “Made in Georgia” goods and services.
