The Savannah Dance Classic is a winter competition for amateur and professional ballroom dancers. The competition continues through Saturday in the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah. Professional ballroom dance couples and amateurs will vie for titles, awards and prize money.
Organizers David Medeiros and Mark Brock, both dance teachers and competitors, developed the idea for the competition after visiting Savannah and enjoying the city’s charm.
“There are ballroom dance competitions every weekend across the United States and Canada and we wanted Savannah to take part in the growing phenomenon of ballroom dancing,” Medeiros said.
Spectators are invited. Advance tickets for matinees Thursday, Friday and Saturday are $15 per person. Tickets for Friday night are $20 per person, and Saturday night tickets are $30 per person.
