ChamberPlayers
The Buffalo Chamber Players
Classical and chamber music lovers rejoice. Two very special programs by The Buffalo Chamber Players will take place at the Historic Ritz Theatre, Jan. 18 and 19 at 8 p.m.
Sponsored by The Coastal Symphony of Georgia and Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association, the quartet of professional musicians will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Barber, Ravel and more.
The Friday evening program (Jan. 18) will feature Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major, K. 465 “Dissonant”, Hugo Wolf’s Italian Serenade and Ravel’s Quartet in F Major. Saturday evening (Jan. 19) the quartet will feature Beethoven’s Quartet in E-flat, Op. 74 “Harp”, Dvorak’s Quartet in F Major, Op. 96 “American”, and Samuel Barber’s hauntingly beautiful Adagio for Strings.
The Buffalo Chamber Players are Antoine Lefebvre, violin; Shie-Jian Tsai, violin, Janz Castelo, viola and Feng Hew, cello, all members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and committed to exploring masterworks of the chamber music repertoire.
In addition to the two public programs, The Buffalo Chamber Players will be conducting master classes with members of the Coastal Youth Symphony and performing a special concert for a select student audience. These activities are sponsored in part by a grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpieces initiative.
Tickets for the program at the Ritz Theatre are $25 (for each performance) and proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Youth Symphony. A Reception and Concert Package is being offered for the Friday evening performance, and the $100 ticket will include two tickets to a wonderful pre-show reception at Old City Hall, where patrons can mix and mingle with the guest musicians.
