Fort McAllister to celebrate 4th of July

Fort McAllister State Historic Park will have a 4th of July program from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, July 4.

Celebrate the nation’s birthday with Civil War re-enactors as they fire special salutes for those who have given their lives in battle. The event also will include period games and free watermelon. Park visitors are encouraged to pack lunches.

Fort McAllister State Historic Park is at Georgia Spur 144/Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill. Attendees should take Interstate 95 to exit 90, then head east on Highway 144 until they see fort signs.

Admission is $6.50 for adults and $3.75 for children.
