Family Beach Day
June 7, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Reynolds Mansion on Sapelo Island
Come explore the wonders of Sapelo Island beaches. A naturalist will lead beach walks and teach about animals that call the intertidal zone their home. The program conclude with a chance to fish with a seine. $10. 912-485-2299.

Full Moon Paddle
June 9, 8-9 p.m.
Laura S. Walker State Park, Waycross
Celebrate this day by watching the full moon rise over our black water. Limited space; pre-registration required. This is a ranger led paddle, the lake is closed to the public after sunset. $25 single; $35 tandem $5 parking. 912-287-4900.

Ghosts and Legends of Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation
June 10, 7-8:30 p.m.
Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Historic Site, Brunswick
Take an eerie journey at coastal Georgia’s most haunted rice plantation. As you walk beneath centuries old live oaks, explore the out-buildings and a lantern tour of the main house you will hear tales of recent ghostly encounters, plantation folklore and the rich but tragic history of the Lowcounty rice fields. $15. 912-264-7333.

Kid’s Fishing Rodeo
June 10, 8-11 a.m.
Laura S. Walker State Park, Waycross
Celebrate National Fishing Week at the Park. Children, age 3-12, are welcome. Prizes will be awarded. Hot dogs, drinks and bait will be provided. The park is doing a fish count, so weigh and identify your fish. $5 parking. 912-287-4900.

Recreation with a Ranger
June 10, 10 a.m.
Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah
Celebrate National Get Outdoors Day by touring the park’s outdoor fitness options. Learn about the best trail loops for running or walking. Try out the Street Striders and explore other ways to get fit in the park. $5 parking. 912-598-2300.

Middle/South Georgia

Stargazers Astronomy
June 2, 8-10 p.m.
Magnolia Springs State Park. Millen
Gaze at the galaxy, watch for meteors, and observe planets and the moon. Observations will be our unaided eyes and a new Celestron telescope. Bring a lounge chair and bug spray. $5 parking. 478-982-1660.

Outdoor Adventure Camp
June 5 - 8, 2017
General Coffee State Park - Nicholls
Kids ages 10-14 are invited to attend the park’s outdoor adventure camp and have fun while learning outdoor skills. The camp will include canoeing, archery, orienteering and more. Pre-registration for the camp is required no later than the Friday prior to camp. All registrations must be completed and paid for before the first day of camp. $45 plus $5 parking. 912-384-7082.

Full Moon Paddle

Elijah Clark State Park - Lincolnton
Join a guided tour of Clark Hill Lake and enjoy a peaceful paddle under the bright moon. Enjoy the night sky as you star gaze and hear the different night sounds. Intro to Kayaking
Saturday, June 10, 2017 11 a.m.
Indian Springs State Park - Flovilla
Join a park ranger for a kayaking class. Learn about the parts of a kayak, how to safely move around on the water, and what to look out for before and during your kayak adventure. Meet at the boat ramp. $10 plus $5 parking. 770-504-2277.

Zombie Archery - Get Outdoors Day
Saturday, June 10, 2017 1 to 3 p.m.
Magnolia Springs State Park, Millen
It seems that 3D zombie targets are hanging out on the archery range. Join a park ranger and help rid the park of these zombies. All equipment is provided, ages 7 and up. Sign up at the Visitor Center or give us a call to save your spot. Limited to 21 participants. $10 plus $5 parking. 478-982-1660.
