Aspiring artists and those looking to unwind with the arts will have another chance to enjoy a relaxing night of painting in coming weeks.
The Hinesville Area Arts Council will host another Stroke by Stroke adult painting party at 6 p.m. Friday, July 13.
During the class, art instructor Ashley Cuevas will offer step-by-step painting instruction to help attendees call on their creative skills as they finish an entire painting in one sitting.
This marks the fourth class of its kind by the HAAC, and the classes usually average 20 participants.
“The reaction to the class is actually quite amusing,” Cuevas said. "At the very beginning, especially for the realistic paintings, participants look at the example template and have a wide-eyed critical face on [as if to say] ‘You expect me to do what?’”
But about half-way through the piece, with encouragement from Cuevas and an understanding of the paint, participants get the hang of it.
That leads to the best part — when participants say things like, “It actually looks good,” “I’ve never painted something like this in my life,” and “Wait till my husband sees this,” Cuevas said.
Visitors also are encouraged to bring wine, snacks or other refreshments that put them at ease.
The $25 registration fee includes all art supplies.
Cuevas encourages people to register early, as the class is limited to 21 participants due to space restrictions.
