Now in its fourth year, the Lunchtime Concert in the Park series will kick off the season from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 22 with a concert featuring a veteran of the series, Bottles ‘N Cans. The band features a unique brand of southern music and deep blues.
“Bottles ‘N Cans is a group from the Savannah area that has an impressive resume, not to mention an incredible sound. They are upbeat, family-friendly and ideal for the Lunchtime Concert,” Vicki Davis, director of the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, said.
The on-site food vendor will feature the Leadership Liberty 2011 Class’ spaghetti dinner fundraiser, which supports its class project. Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or purchase from downtown eateries as well as bring their own lawn chairs.
The first lunchtime concert was held in April 2008 as a part of the Georgia Cities’ Week Celebration. It was so well-received that it became a series of four to six concerts each year.  Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association, is an annual celebration in which cities educate residents about the valuable services provided and showcase the cultural heritage in their communities.
This month’s concert is sponsored by the Hinesville Area Arts Council, which has supported the season’s kick-off concert every year since the series began. Other sponsors of the concert series include the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, the city of Hinesville, OMI 2MHill and the Coastal Courier.
Lunchtime Concerts typically are held the third Friday in April, May, June, September and October.  For more information, call Zach Claxton at 912-877-HDDA (4332), email discoverdowntown@coastalnow.net or go to www.facebook.com/hinesvilledowntown.
