RICHMOND HILL -- Fort McAllister State Historic Park will present "The History of Landmines to the Present" lectures on Saturday as part of its Memorial Day observance.
Guest speaker Jack Imber is an unexploded ordnance technician who locates, identifies and destroys explosives with his specialty being landmines around the world.
The instructor of mine risk education under the International Mine Action Standards will speak at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in conjunction with the fort's other programs, which include musket and cannon firing demonstrations.
The park is near the end of Georgia Spur 144 east of Richmond Hill. Admission is $2-4. Saturday, however, military families get in free. For more information, call 727-2339.
