Holiday hayrides at Holbrook this weekend
Weekly FMWR briefing for Dec. 13

Holbrook Pond Recreation Area off Highway 144 will glow with holiday decorations for the holiday celebrations, including hayrides from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The FMWR mini-train, popular with young and old alike, will give rides. Watch a holiday movie under the stars and enjoy the campfire, roasted marshmallows and s'mores. The cost will be $5 per family or $1 per person. Hot dogs, funnel cakes, chips, cookies and drinks will be available at a concession stand.
Holbrook will remain decorated through Dec. 25 for soldiers and families to drive through and view the lights. For more information, call 315-9554.

Family Night dinner and bowling
Families, take advantage of the dinner and bowling special at Stewart Lanes Bowling Center from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.
For $30 a family of five can enjoy 10 games of bowling, five shoe rentals and homemade spaghetti, side salad and refillable drink. For more information, call 767-4273.

Thunder Run Restaurant Closing Dec. 19-Jan. 3
Thunder Run Restaurant in Club Stewart will close Monday, Dec. 19, and resume service in the Palmetto Room on Jan. 3.
Lunch and the Wednesday night Internationally Inspired Cuisine buffet will not be served during the closure.
The closing will allow the start of an eight-month, three-phase renovation project to reduce energy consumption.

Club Stewart's South Entrance Closing Temporarily
Beginning Jan. 1, the south entrance to Club Stewart and Stewart Bingo will be closed to accommodate the start of an extensive, eight-month renovation to reduce energy use. Patrons are asked to enter the club through the north side during this time.

Christmas Eve bowling
Marne Lanes Bowling Center is offering two Christmas Eve opportunities for bowling from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 24.
Get into the spirit of Christmas with friends and family and enjoy two hours of bowling, shoe rentals, and a bottomless pitcher of soda for up to six people for $24.95. That's a savings of $28.05 from the $53 regular price.
Bowl a hambone (four strikes in a row in one game) during that time and you will receive a free bowling pass for each hambone bowled. Passes limited to two per person.

MLK Basketball Tournament
The first of what is to become the annual Martin Luther King Basketball Tournament will be at Newman Fitness Center from Jan. 13-15.
Registration is under way.
The competition will consist of a round-robin, team seeding play, with a maximum of 12 teams. The tournament also will include a slam dunk contest and a 3-point shootout.
Entry for military costs $150 per team. The cost for non-military competitors is $200 per team. The cost is $10 per individual for the slam dunk and 3-point contests.
All teams must be signed up by Jan. 6 and must present a roster with a minimum of seven players. Awards will be presented to first and second-place teams.

Red Sails in the Sunset Trip
