Reel in black sea bass, grouper, or snapper on an eight-hour Deep Sea Reef Fishing Trip out of Jekyll Island on July 7.
Registration continues through June 18. The cost is $125 per person.
All bait and equipment is furnished. License is covered by boat captain.
The group will leave from Fort Stewart's Leisure Travel Office at 5 a.m. and the boat will launch at 7 a.m. Participants should bring a lunch and drinks (no glass). Ice chests no larger than 48 quarts are permitted.

Café Pasta Nights
Enjoy the new Café Style Pasta Night at Thunder Run every Wednesday from 4-7:30 p.m.
It’s a four- course meal of a salad bar, appetizer, pasta dish and a dessert selection.
The chef will saute your pasta while you enjoy your salad – or prepare it right in front of you while you wait. Among the items you can enjoy: marinara, roasted gralic alfredo, chicken breast, meatballs, sausage and veggies.
The cost is $9.95 for adults and $4.95 for children 5-10. Younger children eat free.
With the Family Grab ‘n Go, you can call ahead for pickup of a pasta bundle for four for $24.95. Deal includes two pounds of pasta with sauce, meat and veggies, garlic bread, a family size garden or caesar salad and dessert for four.
Family dinner and bowling

Childcare space available
Childcare service is available on Fort Stewart and Hunter.
As of May 18, spaces at Fort Stewart was: none for infants, 77 pre-toddlers, 61 toddlers, 10 pre-school age, 35 school age and t3 middle school/teens. Stewart summer camp vacancies were 25 pre-kinder and 5 kinder camps.
On Hunter, spaces available were 25 pre-toddlers; no toddlers, 9 pre-school. Hunter summer camp vacancies are 33 school age and 31 middle school/teens.

Summer reading program
Registration begins May 30 for the summer reading program at George P. Hays Library. The program is free and for children up to age 12.
The theme is “Reading Is Sooooo Delicious.” It begins June 1 and continues through July 27, meeting from 4-5 p.m.
Participating children receive a special reading bag and reading lists.

Youth kayaking trip
Registration ends May 31 for a Youth Sponsorship Kayaking Trip to Skidaway Island State Park on June 2.
The trip is for CYSS-registered Fort Stewart and Hunter youth in grades 5-12 to learn more about their surroundings and meet new friends. They will learn how to kayak and will explore the inter-coastal waterways near the park.
The cost is $15 per person. Register at Parent Central Services, 767-2312 on Stewart or 315-5425 at Hunter. A $5 cancellation fee will be applied after May 31 or for no shows.

Online hunting/fishing permits
Beginning June 4, sportsmen who hold recreation, hunting or fishing permits for Fort Stewart or Hunter may renew them online through WebTrac at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/sites/ga.html.
The service is available renewals only. First time permits are available at the Pass and Permit Office at Stewart or Hunter. The Stewart office's phone number is 435-8061. Hunter's is 315-5163.
Also, beginning on June 4, Stewart/Hunter sportsmen will use their pass number to log in, rather than the nine-digit number previously used.

Operation Purple Camps
Applications for Operation Purple Camps are available through the National Military Family Association website.
OPC is to give military children, age 7-17, the tools to deal with the stress of a parent's deployment. Priority will be given to children whose parents deploy phase between Sept. 11 and Dec. 12 and who have not been to a camp.
All-Army 10-Miler qualifier
Registration is under way for the All-Army 10-miler Qualifier Race June 2 at Donovan Field. Soldiers may earn the right to represent the 3rd ID in the prestigious Oct. 21 race in Washington, D.C.
The Stewart/Hunter qualifier will begin at 5 a.m. Qualifying is for active duty only, but family members may run with soldier for encouragement. There is no charge.
Two vans will carry Hunter sSoldiers to and from the race. The vans will leave Tominac Fitness Center at 3:30 a.m.
Hunter participants have until close of business on May 31 to notify personnel at Tominac. The phone numbers are 315-2019/5078.
Registration will be accepted at the race, 4-4:45 a.m. at the Donovan parking lot area.
Racers can sign up in advance at the Bennett Sports Complex, or by calling 767-8238.
The top six runners in four age and gender groups will represent the division.
Hunter golf scramble
The Hunter Garrison Commander’s 4-Person Golf Scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. June 8 at Hunter Golf Club. The event will accept the first 25 four-person teams. Register by June 6.
The cost is $35 for Taylors Creek and Hunter Golf Club members, Active duty, retirees and Army civilians, $45 for civilian guests.

Kids fishing event
A kids fishing event, planned as a way to introduce youth to fishing, will be from 7-11 a.m. June 9 at Pond 30, Training Area Echo 1, off Highway144 West. The event is free.
Kids under the age of 16 can catch five catfish from the heavily stocked pond, compete in a bait-casting competition, watch a fish-cleaning demonstration and win door prizes.
Participants must sign up at the Fort Stewart Pass & Permit Office. You can sign up from 6-9 a.m. at the event.
The event is sponsored by DFMWR’s Outdoor Recreation, DPW Fisheries Branch, DES Game Wardens and Liberty County Bass Club. The club will stage the bait-casting competition.
Activities will be scheduled every 30 minutes from 8-10:30 a.m. Door prizes will be drawn every 30 minutes.
The event is being in conjunction with National Fishing and Boating Week.

Teen high adventure camp
Registration will close June 7 for the action-filled Teen High Adventure Camp, June 17-22 in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina.
The annual trip is sponsored by the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Child, Youth and School Services and is open to CYSS-registered youth 13-17 years old.
Youth can learn lifetime outdoor adventure skills through white-water rafting trips, tubing, zip-lining and hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Family style meals, cabins, and activity fees are included in the camp registration fee of $150 per person.
