Melon Bluff Nature and Heritage Center recently announced the winners in the 2009 inaugural live oak photo competition. On Feb. 21, at the Center in Midway, Kyle Ford, a student at Savannah College of Art and Design, took first place ($250 prize) in the senior division with his photo titled “Majestic Oak.”  Libby Persse of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Savannah was awarded first place ($75 prize) in the junior division with her photo also titled “Majestic Oak.”
Photographs from various contestants remain on display at the Melon Bluff Nature and Heritage Center through April 28.  At that time, a “popular choice award,” determined by visitors’ votes of their favorite photographs, will be announced.
